Employer page
Learning at Work provides employers with support in identifying their training requirements.
We break down your requirements into 5 key areas:
- Staff Development – how can we help you retain key workers and develop succession plans.
- Legislative Requirements – what training do you have to provide by law and can we access funding to support this.
- Technical Skills – could the provision of industry recognised qualifications that are benchmarked to national quality standards be beneficial to your workforce?
- Added Value – what additional training or qualifications may improve the profitability and efficiency of your company?
- Contract / Tenders – what training or qualifications may improve the standing of your company during business tenders or re-contracting negotiations?
This detailed training plan will also assess your employee’s skill set and we will determine if the provision needed by your company is eligible for government funding, The plan will also reflect the best learning style for both your company and your workforce and can include face-to-face individual / group work, distance learning or through online programmes.
Examples of programmes include:
National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs)
NVQs are technical programmes that relate to industry best practise. They help ensure that your workforce are operating safely and to national standards. There are a range of NVQs available for every work sector.
Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships include the technical knowledge needed for your sector and are backed up by an NVQ and a focus on literacy and numeracy where required.
Distance Learning Courses
Employees use high-quality study packs and have access to an occupationally competent assessor.
Online Programmes
Employees access the course at home or at work and progress with the help of an online tutor.
Skills for Life
The UK has low levels of literacy and numeracy among its adult working population when compared to other countries which can affect the working capabilities of employees and competiveness of companies. Examples include employees being unable to read safety notices to struggling to complete company reports. These courses help provide the techniques required to improve literacy and numeracy levels and can have a dramatic impact on performance.
Bespoke
Bespoke training will be developed to meet the needs of employer and employees and take into account the operations of a business, working hours, what employees do and where employees are based, as well as the subject material and level of training required. Some other forms of training referred to above can include elements of bespoke training.
